-1-2. George Huff: I love George, and I think the judges are nuts. True, the song sucked. True, the wiz is an amazingly cheezy movie. But the song was, for all it's safe easy R&B poppy junk, beautifully done, and actually something a little different from George. I agree it was his worse performance yet... but that's hardly harsh criticism!
-2-1. Fantasia Barrino: Very nice song choice, despite the initial lounge singer flashes. Beautifully sung, she let loose the full expressive potential of her voice, and it was simply amazing to listen to. Don't know about the on-the-knees show, but just a beautifully sung, beautiful song. Beautiful. Amazingly beautiful. Goodness, she inspired HERSELF to cry with that performance, did I mention it was beautiful?
-3-4. Latoya London: Excellent song. Don't know though, if it was a particularly great song choice. She's just done the diva thing so many times, with only that one short break country week, that I'm starting to get a little indifferent to it. Yeah, Jennifer's done the same thing, but the up-and-down nature of Jen's performing has broken up the monotany of her songs. Latoya's been consistantly excellent, and it's just kind of becoming numbing. HOWEVER, it was a wonderful performance, and truly amazing singing, beautiful even. Meh.
-5-4. Jennifer Hudson: As it always will be, this is a horrible song choice. Exceptionally well performed, beautifully sung, perhaps her best vocal performance yet. She even managed _not_ to oversing the most oversung song of all time. Yet, it still doesn't really do much, cause the song has just been perfected 3000000 times previously. It was good, excellent even, but I still felt a bit meh when she was done. Again though, amazing performance.
-4-8. Diana DeGarmo: This was probably the worst song choice of the night, she just doesn't have a rich enough, full enough voice to challenge a celine dion song. It was technically well done, she just didn't have enough voice for it. I loved some of her early performances, mostly of light, fun songs, but the last few weeks have been a massive let down. She could be in some serious trouble with this one. And wow, Quentin straight up RIPPED her, has a guest judge ever done that before?
-6-5. Jasmine Trias: Haha, love the movie choice, the cute little hawaiian girl loves the cute little hawaiian disney movie... Anyway, another ok performance. Like Diana, she did it all right, but just didn't have enough voice to truly convey the song's potential. And she dipped like WHOA on that last note. Good, certainly not great.
-7-7. Jon Peter Lewis: More Elvis? Blah, he sounded alright, but it was still just good kareoke, and an incredibly easy song for that matter. Blah, I'm sure he'll get plenty of votes this week for the performance, but I'd say it was one of his least inspiring efforst yet, if vocally alright. I'm right with Simon on this one. Similar to Jennifer right before him, I'd say you have to improve, or at the very least change, something about the original...
-8-6. John Stevens: Well, John picked up a few million points for naming Aladdin his favorite movie, and then lost 'em all for putting me to sleep. Yeah yeah yeah, smooth cool voice, throwback to the rat pack, BORING AS ALL HELL! Perhaps with a decent performance, his 'fans' won't feel the rabid need to 'save' him, and he won't get enough votes to survive. We can only hope...
