1. Lisa Leuschner: Well, I hated the song, but a very solid performance none-the-less. She's got a very strong voice, kept near perfect pitch (bit of uncertainty when trying to run, but at least for today it can certainly be forgiven), and with hair and makeup professionaly done was actually pretty cute. Decent showing made brilliant by its surroundings.
2. Matthew Rodgers: Matt's main problem's that he went first. Seeing him sing, the whole time I was comparing him to last week and thinking, 'meh, not good enough'. Looking back though, it was probably one of the better performances of the night. He hit the notes, had decent tone, only thing missing was that wow factor, it was very MOR. Meh, might just be as good as it gets (tonight).
3. Camile Velasco: Definitely wins the 'cutest' award for the evening, but anyway, it was ok. She started out a bit nervous, and it never really went away. The power parts were decent, but the rest of it was a bit weak, especially the falsetto jumps. Like the judges said, there was ability there, but she didn't really let it through. Dunno, it was 'aight'...
4. Marisa Joy: Decent, nothing special, but decent. She hit the notes, sounded good, and charged it with loads of the same fake cheezy 'attitude' she displayed the rest of the time. Meh, ok, whatever.
5. Briana Ramirez-Rial: Blah, she hit the notes, it was pleasant enough... I just didn't care. She doesn't have NEARLY the voice Norah Jones has, and didn't give the song nearly the feeling. As Simon put it, "It was just.. nothing." That said, at least I wasn't cringing... moving on.
6. Noel Roman: While he didn't quite sing _every_ note out of tune, there were definitely some pitches lost and forgotten along the way. Meh, listening to it again, it wasn't quite as bad as it felt at first, but there really weren't any redeeming qualities to it either. That said, Randy's "Dude, that was terrible" was one of the evening's highlights!
7. Kara Master: Sarah Jessica Parker's never done anything for me, and she doesn't either. That said, she does at least get some points for singing all but the highest of notes in tune. It was pretty weak, but I think the judges at this point had just given up, Randy's line of the evening being "Pick a better song and sing it better." Very harsh, very weak performance, very poor evening.
8. Jesus Roman: Damn, he even convinced himself he sucked... terrible. That's about all there is to it. He made up some awful notes, gave up halfway through, and was singing a gloriously boring already Brian McKnight song. Simon did improve things by noting that "He made his brother sound good." Blech...
